Overview:

The Territory Manager is a business unit leader with responsibility for people, process, and P&L. The manager must be able to effectively run a service and sales operation devoted to overhead crane service and sales and complimentary crane equipment. The manager must be able to recruit, hire, develop and retain employees of various job types and must be able to expand the territory's revenue and reach. Further, the Manager must be capable of bidding and managing projects of varying sizes and timeframes and managing employees who have duties of similar scope with third party involvement depending on the project (e.g., Pipefitters, Millwrights, Ironworkers, Carpenters, Electrical, Laborers). The Manager must be capable of working in a fast-paced and sometimes high stress construction/service environment. Must drive team success through culture, coaching and process. Must exhibit balance as a leader, displaying professional and personal traits consistent with the Company's cultural norms. Applicants must illustrate a history of self-improvement, learning and leadership as well as civic/community involvement.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Effectively recruit, lead, train, support and mentor a team of technicians, administrator and support staff.
  • Prepare and track project schedule, budget, scope, and goals.
  • Coordinate crew, transportation, equipment, and material procurement
  • Prepare reports for Management defining project schedule, issues, and solutions
  • Prepare and report on monthly territory progress to management.
  • Annual Budgeting for P&L and quarterly review progress.
  • Estimating labor and materials for equipment fabrication and installation and present to sales and customers in professional format.
  • Manage all facets of awarded projects (budgeting, forecasting, subcontractor selection & management, shop drawings, fabrication, inspections, purchase orders, scheduling, invoicing, contracts, change orders, deadlines, final project re-cap, communication, leadership)
  • Review, formalize, and approve documentation for the successful tracking of projects, including submittals, schedules, schedule of values, billings, requests for information, requests for change orders, change orders, project start-up, close out, O&M s, as-builts, and warranties.
  • Utilize software and programs required in the performance of the position.
  • Focus on safety of crews and care of large equipment including cranes
  • Lead daily operational planning meetings with key project personnel; communicate the work plan of the day; provide input to overall project planning and scheduling
  • Travel with Salespeople for customer updated project planning and sales efforts.
  • Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual goals for department and employees and drive accountability through process, communication, and leadership.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience managing overhead crane service department/division.
  • Demonstrated planning and leadership skills
  • Experience with people recruitment, management, and development.
  • Experience estimating and managing industrial projects, millwright, mechanical and rigging projects including assembly, erection, relocation and/or dismantling of large machinery and equipment including cranes and conveyors along with installing, relocating, or dismantling.
  • Hands-on field experience in crane service
  • Experience with installation of:
    • Overhead Cranes & Crane-Related Equipment
    • Conveyors
    • Structural Steel
    • Industrial Equipment
  • Experience with job costing, construction accounting and financial responsibility of projects.
  • Preferred mechanical knowledge should include utility and process piping and instrumentation tubing. Millwright knowledge should include machine assembly, erection, layout, leveling and alignment. Preferred rigging knowledge should include cranes, hydraulic gantries, lift trucks, jacks and slide systems and other specialized rigging equipment and methods.
  • Multi-tasking, highly motivated, goal oriented.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
    • Auto Cad or other engineering software experience a plus
  • Experience with scheduling software.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in related work.
  • Knowledge of heavy lift equipment and/or plant operations is a plus
  • Experience in a supervisory role in the direct or a related construction field
  • Ability to maintain written documentation of daily activities
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in daily tasks
  • Ability and experience reading/understanding:
    • Wiring diagrams and single line diagrams a plus
    • Equipment drawings
    • Steel erection drawings
    • Construction/mechanical blueprints

Education/Experience

  • 3+ Years' management of overhead crane field service department or division.
  • Bachelor of Science in Project Management, Engineering or Related Field of Study
  • 5+ years of Major Construction Project Management
  • Professional or Industry Association Membership/Leadership a plus.
  • Industry or Professional Certificates/Designations a plus.
